PhD Project: Developing effective policy responses to address energy poverty and increase energy justice

Claudia is a PhD researcher at MaREI, the SFI Research Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine, University College Cork. Her research investigates the lived experience of energy poverty and how such knowledge can be used to design effective policy responses and increase energy justice while contributing to reductions in carbon emissions and inequality.

Claudia’s PhD is under the supervision of Dr. Niall Dunphy, Prof. Brian Ó Gallachóir and Dr. Clodagh Harris.

 

Background:

Claudia has an MSc in Urbanisation and Development from The London School of Economics and Political Science. Her master’s thesis analysed the everyday practices of peri-urban slum dwellers in partaking in urban living. She received her BSc degree in Land Economy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.

She has work experience in advocacy campaigns, communications and programme management on the environment and climate action. She also has experience in teaching and research.

Through her doctoral studies, Claudia seeks to contribute to climate action through energy transitions in the built environment in close collaboration with industry players and the ERBE CDT.
