Eoin Oude Essink is a PhD student at TU Dublin. He completed both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. During his studies, he spent time at the Energies department of TU Delft. Recently, Eoin was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to join the Cooling Technologies Research Center at Purdue University. There, he developed experimental facilities to research next-generation cooling technologies.
Eoin has a longstanding interest in thermodynamics, coupled with a passion for technology and electronics. He merged these interests during his Master’s research project, where he conducted a numerical study on the microscale modulation of heat transfer caused by movable parts in a liquid-cooled server CPU. This research was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sajad Alimohammadi and Dr. Tim Persoons, both of whom, along with Dr. Xiangjie Chen, will supervise his PhD project.
A techno-economic analysis of current and next-generation sustainable cooling technologies within Irish data centres
Eoin’s PhD research will focus on developing optimal cooling technologies for Irish data centers. His work will involve both physical experiments and numerical studies to identify effective cooling solutions. This research will also include collaboration with state-of-the-art colocation data centers based in Ireland.
