PhD Project: Heat pump readiness: Conceptualising heat pump readiness and determining impacts on householder transitions to low-carbon heating in the UK

Laurel joined the ERBE EPSRC CDT in autumn of 2021, having gained her Master’s degree in Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, and Undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering. Following this, she spent six months working in the senior care industry, while continuing work on her Master’s research project, and authored her first research paper. Laurel’s research interests are both social and technical, and she aims to adopt a sociotechnical perspective on research opportunities and challenges arising from the transition to a net zero economy. Broadly, her PhD aims take a place-based approach to investigate enablers and barriers to the adoption of heat pumps, from a householder perspective.
